UFO is a R&D project, which combines innovative technology and artistic creativity.

The project aims to develop, and validate on field, a swarm of autonomous flying drones ables to draw with spray cans on a vertical surface. The system allows the swarm to fly in autonomous way by means of a precise localization system designed by LINKS with UWB (Ultra Wide Band) technology, a core asset of the Foundation.

This work is fostered by Compagnia di San Paolo and developed jointly with Carlo Ratti Associati and Tsuru Robotics.

For the first time in the world, a swarm of drones autonomously flew in an outdoor location exploiting UWB localization system.
