On 13 December the Foundation will host the Workshop “Towards Smart Autonomous Cyber-Physical Systems: Unmanned Aerial/Ground Vehicles and Robots”, organized by the H2020 project CPSwarm that is coordinated by LINKS, and specifically by the Area “IoT and Pervasive Technologies”.

In the starting phase of the workshop, several EU projects that share the objective to support the engineering of autonomous Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS)s – such as drones and unmanned ground vehicles – will present their mean outcomes. Few H2020 projects will contribute to the workshop: TeamPlay, the H2020 projects funded within the ICT-01-2016 call i.e., BONSEYES, CPSwarm, DEIS e CERBERO (part of the CPS Cluster) as well as Bugwright2 (starting in January 2020).

Then, the workshop will focus on the results obtained by the CPSwarm project, which aims providing tools that ease design, development and integration of complex systems, composed by a potentially high number of heterogeneous CPSs, which collaborate to execute complex tasks. Particularly, CPSwarm addresses the issue to enable the adoption of artificial and swarm intelligence algorithms onboard single CPSs, allowing them to be coordinated and to expose globally an emerging behavior able to solve real complex problems. The CPSwarm solution has been validated in 3 use cases: drones swarms for emergency applications, like Search and Rescue and monitoring of critical infrastructures, service robotics supporting logistics solutions for warehouses and autonomous vehicles for transport of goods.

Furthermore, the workshop will introduce few challenges in promoting the adoption of smart CPSs in urban areas; more specifically, the drones regulatory framework will be introduced. The workshop will present also relevant initiatives of the Turin ecosystem, such as PIC4SeR (the PoliTO Interdepartmental Centre for Service Robotics) and TO City Lab (a City of Turin initiative to promote experimental activities, in real conditions, of innovative pre-commercial solutions).

The workshop will also include a session where will be presented the posters related to the workshop topics.

It is possible to see HERE the agenda of the workshop.
