VIsion Sensors for Bottling linE Efficiency impRovement

Start Date: 18/04/2022
End Date: 17/09/2023

The VIS4BEER project intends to operate in the technological context of industry 4.0 by improving efficiency, ergonomics and decreasing waste in automatic production lines by means of intelligent vision sensors.

The use case identified consists of the beer production line (Heineken plant, Pollein, AO) in which two stations have been selected because of some unresolved critical issues: the first is the can bottling station, the second is the palletizing station at the end of the line for blade keg boxes.

For each station, two prototypes will be developed based both on artificial intelligence algorithms combined with edge-computing, and on standard algorithms with embedded controllers. The performance and costs of the systems will be compared providing an interesting case study on the advantages of AI-based algorithms in the context of manufacturing.

The project is developed by Novasis Innovazione and LINKS.

The project is co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund 2014/20 (ERDF)
