Distributed Ledger Technology, introduced in the monetary field through the invention of the Bitcoin Blockchain, is the establishing infrastructure of Internet of Value. A new frontier in digital transformation, it offers new ways for stocking, distribution and transfer of every kind of information and negotiable value by leveraging digital assets and smart contract.

The main applications of this technology in the monetary field at the moment are: improvement of trust levels, transparency, security and collaboration inside local and international supply chains; marketing and valorisation of user communities; management and valorisation of intellectual property.
The main experiments of DLTs in the public sector regard instead the management of personal data such as: digital identity, health information, property rights and qualifications.

LINKS oversees the theme of DLT based technology through Overtheblock, a permanent research and market education activity and a sense framework used to communicate the planning of the Foundation in this field. This initiative wants to promote a deeper knowledge on the opportunities DLT can offer in transforming business management and society administration. The initiative is aimed at public and private decision-makers and, of course, at the international scientific community. Overtheblock’s activity has three investigation branches: the role of blockchain in innovating business models, DLT potential in promoting community empowerment and the convergence between DLT and other exponential technology such as Internet of Things (IoT) and artificial intelligence.

From a funded international research point of view the Foundation promotes the evolution and diffusion of such technology through a portfolio of projects that touches many different sectors and application fields:

• Effect analysis of DLT usage in the public sector in combination with other exponential technology like IoT and augmented reality a (Project CO3)
• Usage of DLT in intellectual property management through non fungible tokens (NFT)(Mediaverse Project)
• Transformation of business models in social media to create higher transparency, privacy and user centrality levels(Helios Project)
• Certification of environmental and social sustainability in the textile sector.(TCBL Project)

The Foundation, in closing, speaks and cooperates profitably with many industrial businesses on the national and European territory, contributing to a strategic and technological knowledge transfer inside business processes and supply chains.
