The Space and Navigation Technologies Area researchers are participating in the ION GNSS+ 2019 conference   that is taking place in Miami, USA, until September 20.

Emanuela Falletti will chair the two following sessions focusing on the satellite navigation signals in harsh and degraded environments:

  • Session F2: GNSS Signal Processing in Degraded Environments 1.
  • Session F6: GNSS Signal Processing in Degraded Environments 2.

The researchers of the area will also present the following papers:

On the use of an Ultra-tight Integration for Robust Navigation in Jammed Scenarios by Calogero Cristodaro, Politecnico di Torino, Italy; Gianluca Falco, LINKS Foundation, Italy; Laura Ruotsalainen, University of Helsinki and Finnish Geospatial Research Institute, Finland; Fabio Dovis, Politecnico di Torino, Italy. In this paper, the design of an ultra-tight hybrid navigation system is proposed with the aim to enhance the robustness of the navigation system in presence of jamming. A GNSS unit has been integrated with external sensors, namely Inertial Navigation Systems, visual sensor and odometer.

An Algorithm for Finding the Direction of Arrival of Counterfeit GNSS Signals on a Civil Aircraft by G. Falco, M. Nicola, E. Falletti, M. Pini, LINKS Foundation, Italy. This paper describes the algorithm, developed in the frame of the GATEMAN project, which enables a multiple-antenna GNSS receiver under spoofing attack to find the direction of arrival of the counterfeit GNSS signal.

Effects of Optimized Mitigation Techniques for Swept-frequency Jammers on Tracking Loops by W. Qin, Politecnico di Torino, Italy; M. Troglia Gamba, E. Falletti, LINKS Foundation, Italy; F. Dovis, Politecnico di Torino, Italy. The paper deals with the topic of interference detection and mitigation in GNSS receivers, focusing specifically on jamming disturbances. It presents the analysis of the effects of using an Adaptive Notch Filter (ANF) on the recovered GNSS signal after the interference removal.

Autonomous Vehicle High-Accuracy Position and Integrity Engine Performance Results by E. Domínguez Tijero, A. Chamorro Moreno, M.T. Fernández Calzón, GMV, Spain; J. García, FICOSA, Spain; J. Ibañez-Guzmán, E. Stawiarski, RENAULT, France; P. Xu, University of Technology of Compiègne, France; G. Avellone, F. Pisoni, STMicroelectronics, Italy; E. Falletti, LINKS Foundation, Italy; M. Ortiz, IFSTTAR, France. This paper presents some of the results achieved in the ESCAPE project.

ION GNSS+ is considered the world’s largest technical meeting and showcase of GNSS technology, products and services. This year’s conference will bring together international leaders in GNSS and related positioning, navigation and timing fields to present new research, introduce new technologies, discuss current policy, demonstrate products and exchange ideas.

This year our Area in collaboration with Politecnico di Torino won two important awards! Our Area is part of the NavSAS, a joint research group between LINKS Foundation and Politecnico di Torino. Congratulations to our researchers:

  • Congratulations to Gianluca Falco (LINKS), Fabio Dovis (Politecnico di Torino) and Calogero Cristodaro (formerly Politecnico di Torino) for the Best Presentation Award!
  • Congratulations to Alex Minetto (Politecnico di Torino) for the Student Best Paper Award!
